AMHC’s Core Curriculum prepares any artist to support psychological safety in their role, and mental health practitioners to think about appropriate interventions and scope of work should they want to work in the entertainment industry. It is a three-part course for mental health and entertainment industry professionals across the globe, focusing on AMHC’s core values and wisdom gleaned from decades of experience in both the mental health and entertainment worlds.
Our course starts with safety as the building block of ethical and compelling creativity. If you’ve ever wondered, “What does a safe space even look like,” or why safety feels hard to curate, this is where you’ll find answers. Throughout this process, we consider safety from a biological, social, systemic, and most importantly, an embodied perspective.
We also examine systemic issues in policies and protocols across creative industries, common pitfalls in creative spaces, and better practices for supporting psychological safety and brilliant storytelling. Finally, we explore ways to hold conflict as a healthy part of the collaboration process. This is an opportunity to recognize patterns in your past experiences, examine your own tendencies, and build skills in conflict resolution.
If you’d like to move forward on our training pathway, this course is the first prerequisite for Certification. However, the material from CORE is incredibly useful, no matter your current role or goals.
Offered 3-4 times a year. This is our only course with an asynchronous option.
